Scottish Partnership Forum and Ministers
18/12/2002
Following a meeting between Health Ministers and the Scottish Partnership Forum for NHSScotland, Health Minister Malcolm Chisholm said:
"I welcome the opportunity to meet the representatives of NHSScotland's 138,000 staff.
"This was an opportunity to meet, discuss and resolve any issues which were of concern.
"Partnership working is integral to the Scottish Executive's industrial relations strategy. And NHSScotland is recognised as a leader in this area.
"This was an opportunity to reinforce this with the trade unions and representative bodies. I know that our continued partnership will be key to making improvements to the NHS and the service provided to patients."
Jim Devine, Joint Secretary of the Scottish Partnership Forum said:
"This was a constructive meeting with all sectors of the NHS represented.
"The partnership is back on track. There has been recognition of faults on both sides over recent industrial relations issues.
"There was a commitment to work together even more openly and in a joint manner.
"We welcomed the opportunity to meet the Ministers at such short notice.
"I know that this is an indication of the Ministers' commitment to partnership working
