Crown Office appeal against sentence

29/05/2002

The Crown Office has lodged an appeal against the six year sentence imposed on Craig Hamilton, aged 39, who was convicted of rape and sentenced by Lord Dawson at the High Court in Edinburgh on May 8, 2002.

The High Court of Justiciary, sitting as an appeal court, will set a date for the matter to be considered at the Appeal Court in Edinburgh.

An appeal is lodged only in cases where the sentence could be considered unduly lenient.
