New appointment to National Galleries

Ms Anne Bonnar has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland.
Allan Wilson, Deputy Minister for Sports, the Arts and Culture, made the announcement today.
Ms Bonnar, a Director of Bonnar Keenlyside Ltd, a cultural management consultancy, has been appointed to the Board for a term of four years. She is 45, lives in Burntisland, Fife, and was previously General Manager of the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh.
Ms Bonnar has not engaged in any political activity during the past five years.
BACKGROUND
1. The Board of Trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland is responsible for the administration of the Galleries. The Scottish Ministers appoint the members of the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman of the Board, under the terms of the National Galleries of Scotland Act 1906. Trustees are appointed for terms not exceeding four years and are eligible for reappointment. The Board consists of between 7 and 12 members, including the Chairman.
2. In making these appointments, Ministers are required by the 1906 Act to have regard to the desirability of appointing people who have knowledge or experience of Fine Arts, or of management, industrial relations, administration or any other subject which would be of use to the Board in exercising their functions.
3. The appointment is unremunerated and has been made in line with the guidance issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
