Non-Sector Catch Limits For July 2000 In The North Sea (Area IV), West Of Scotland (Area VI) And Area VII

Fisheries Ministers today announced details of the catch limits which will apply to appropriately licensed UK registered or British-owned fishing vessels over 10 metres overall length from 0001 hours on Saturday 1 July 2000.

The opening of the non-sector Firth of Clyde Herring fishery will also take place from 1 July 2000.

The following arrangements apply only to non sector vessels i.e. those over 10 metre vessels not in membership of a Producer Organisation which has been allocated a sectoral quota of the stock in question. Fisheries Departments are arranging for appropriate licences to be issued to all vessels concerned.

All limits are per vessel per month unless otherwise stated. Changes in limit from previous month are shown in bold.

1. North Sea and West of Scotland Cod 5 tonnes of which a maximum in West of Scotland (VIa) of 450 kg

2. North Sea and West of Scotland Haddock 750 kg of which a maximum in West of Scotland (VIa) 600 kg

1. Quotas for 2000 are set for the Sea Areas contained in Council Regulation (EC) No. 2742/1999 of 17 December 1999 and full details and definitions are available on application from Fisheries Departments.

2. The next Area IV/VI/VII meeting to discuss the non sector whitefish management arrangements for August 2000 will be held on Thursday 20 July 2000 in Conference Room D, Nobel House, London. Please contact Fisheries Departments for further information.
