North Sea and West of Scotland Whitefish non-sector quota management arrangements for over 10 metre vessels

Fisheries Departments today announced details of the changes to the management arrangements which will apply to appropriately licensed UK registered or British owned fishing vessels over 10 metres overall length from 00.01 hours on Tuesday 1 September 1998 in certain North Sea and West of Scotland fisheries.
The following arrangements apply only to those over 10 metre vessels not in membership of a Producer Organisation which has been allocated a sectoral quota of the stock in question. Fisheries Departments are arranging for appropriate licence variations to be issued to all vessels concerned.
NORTH SEA AND WEST OF SCOTLAND HADDOCK
The sum of all amounts of haddock caught in ICES Divisions IIa (EC Zone), Vb (EC Zone) and VIa and Sub Area IV and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed a combined monthly quota restriction of 3.5 tonnes.
Of these amounts, however, the sum of all amounts of haddock caught in ICES Divisions IIa (EC Zone) and Sub Area IV and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 2 tonnes.
NORTH SEA AND WEST OF SCOTLAND WHITING
The sum of all amounts of whiting caught in ICES Divisions IIa (EC Zone) and Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas IV, VI, XII (excluding Greenland EEZ) and XIV (excluding Greenland EEZ) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed a combined monthly quota restriction of 2 tonnes.
NORTH SEA AND WEST OF SCOTLAND SAITHE
The sum of all amounts of saithe caught in ICES Divisions IIa (EC Zone), IIIa, IIIb, c and d (EC Zone) and Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas IV, VI, XII (excluding Greenland EEZ) and XIV (excluding Greenland EEZ) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed a combined monthly quota restriction of 1 tonne.
Of this amount, however, the sum of all amounts of saithe caught in ICES Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas VI, XII (excluding Greenland EEZ) and XIV (excluding Greenland EEZ) and retained on board, landed and trans-shipped shall not exceed 700 kgs.
NORTH SEA PLAICE
The sum of all amounts of plaice caught during any calendar month in ICES Division IIa (EC Zone) and Sub Area IV and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 3 tonnes.
NORTH SEA SOLE
The sum of all amounts of sole caught during any calendar month in ICES Sub Areas II and IV and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 400 kgs.
NORTH SEA HAKE
The sum of all amounts of hake caught during any calendar month in ICES Division IIa (EC Zone) and Sub Area IV (EC Zone) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 300 kgs.
NORTH SEA AND WEST OF SCOTLAND NORWAY LOBSTER (NEPHROPS)
The sum of all amounts of Norway lobster (nephrops) caught in ICES Divisions IIa (EC Zone) and Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas IV (EC Zone) and VI and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed a combined monthly quota restriction of 4 tonnes.
Of this amount, however, the sum of all amounts of Norway lobster (nephrops) caught in ICES Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Area VI and retained on board, landed and trans-shipped shall not exceed 3.5 tonnes.
WEST OF SCOTLAND ANGLERFISH
The sum of all amounts of anglerfish caught during any calendar month in ICES Division Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas VI, XII (excluding Greenland EEZ) and XIV (excluding Greenland EEZ) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 1 tonne.
Fishing for anglerfish in ICES Division IIa (EC Zone) and the North Sea (EC Zone) is suspended.
WEST OF SCOTLAND MEGRIM
The sum of all amounts of megrim caught during any calendar month in ICES Divisions IIa (EC Zone) Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas IV (EC Zone) and VI, XII (excluding Greenland EEZ) and XIV (excluding Greenland EEZ) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed a combined monthly qouta restriction of 1 tonne.
Of these amounts, however, the sum of all amounts of megrim caught in ICES Division IIa (EC Zone) and the North Sea (EC Zone) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 500 kgs.
NORTH SEA SKATES AND RAYS
The sum of all amounts of skates and rays caught during any calendar month in ICES Division IIa (EC Zone) and the North Sea (EC Zone) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 5.5 tonnes.
NORTH SEA DAB AND FLOUNDER
The sum of all amounts of dab and flounder caught during any calendar month in ICES Division IIa (EC Zone) and the North Sea (EC Zone) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 400 kgs.
WEST OF SCOTLAND PLAICE
The sum of all amounts of plaice caught during any calendar month in ICES Division Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas VI, XII (excluding Greenland EEZ) and XIV (excluding Greenland EEZ) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 700 kgs.
WESTERN HAKE
The sum of all amounts of hake caught during any calendar month in ICES Division Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas VI, VII, XII (excluding Greenland EEZ) and XIV (excluding Greenland EEZ) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 2.5 tonnes.
WEST OF SCOTLAND POLLACK
The sum of all amounts of pollack caught during any calendar month in ICES Division Vb (EC Zone) and Sub Areas VI, XII (excluding Greenland EEZ) and XIV (excluding Greenland EEZ) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 1.5 tonnes.
These arrangements will be kept under review.

1. North Sea and West of Scotland haddock - 3.5 tonnes
(max 1.5 tonnes per month North Sea haddock)
2. North Sea and West of Scotland whiting - 2 tonnes
(max 1.5 tonne per month North Sea whiting)
3. North Sea and West of Scotland saithe - 750 kgs
(max 600 kgs per month West of Scotland saithe)
4. North Sea plaice - 2 tonnes
5.North Sea sole - 300 kgs
6.North Sea hake - 200 kgs
7. North Sea and West of Scotland nephrops - 4.5 tonnes
(max 4 tonnes per month North Sea nephrops)
8. North Sea and West of Scotland anglerfish - 2 tonnes
(North Sea anglerfish is suspended)
9.North Sea and West of Scotland megrim - 1.5 tonnes
(max 500 kgs per month of North Sea megrim)
10.North Sea Skates/Rays - 4.5 tonnes
11.North Sea dab/flounder - 350 kgs
12.West of Scotland plaice - 600 kgs
