Stats highlight Scotland's quality environment
30/04/1998
Publication of the latest edition of the Scottish Environment Statistics, which brings together information showing changes in the environment over recent years, was welcomed today by Scottish Environment Minister Lord Sewel.
Lord Sewel said:
"Scotland depends on a high quality environment for our prosperity: visitors come to walk in our wild landscapes, to fish our clean rivers or just to enjoy clear skies and fresh air, and our hi-tech industries also rely on that clean environment. It is very much in our interests to keep up progress.
"The 1998 edition of the statistics shows that year on year, overall, our environment is improving. There are some areas in which more must be done; these are being tackled. This excellent publication gives us the opportunity to see Scotland and its environment in the round."
