Abolition of Bridge Tolls (Scotland) Bill

Forth Road BridgeThe Bill, which was introduced to Parliament on September 9, 2007, will enable the Scottish Government to abolish tolls on the Forth and Tay Road bridges.

It delivers three objectives:

  • It removes the ability to charge and collect tolls on the Forth and Tay Bridges
  • It removes the debt repayment limit of 2016 in respect of Tay Bridge
  • It repeals obsolete legislation relating to the Erskine Bridge

The Bill fulfils the '100 Days' commitment to remove the tolls on the Forth and Tay road bridges.
