Summer Cabinet Isle of Bute - August 23 & 24, 2010

The Scottish Cabinet gathered on the Isle of Bute on August 23 & 24 for their first ever meeting on the island.

The Isle of Bute, ancestral home of Stuart kings, has been occupied by people for more than 5,500 years. In the Victorian era it proved a huge attraction for trippers coming by steamers 'doon the watter' from Glasgow.

Rothesay is the main town. Mount Stuart House with its 300 acres of grounds is one of the most magnificent Victorian gothic mansions in the world.
