Information on the total cost associated with internet publication for the Scottish Government broken down for the years 2006-2010.
The categories can be broadly allocated under two headings:
· ISIS (Information Services and Information Systems) - maintenance, purchase of new equipment, hosting bandwidth etc, technical support, ongoing development; and
· Communications - web designers, content provision, user research.
The Scottish Government uses the free open source system Google Analytics to measure its traffic, and search engine optimisation is handled in-house.
For the 2009-10 financial year, the totals are:
· ISIS - hosting cost for servers in 2009-10 - £104,294.28
· Communications Directorate - annual spend on web development in 2009-10 - £173,800.
