Timetable for Implementation
The timetable was announced by Ministers in the Report to the Scottish Parliament on progress on Implementation of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 laid before the Scottish Parliament on May 28 2003. The timetable was agreed with the Scottish Information Commissioner, Kevin Dunion.
The Second Report to the Scottish Parliament on progress on Implementation of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 was laid before the Scottish parliament on 27 May 2004.
On July 17 2003 Tavish Scott MSP, the Minister responsible for FOI, issued a Ministerial letter regarding implementation of the Act to Chief Executives of Scottish public authorities.
A limited number of sections of the Act were brought into force for administrative purposes prior to January 2005 and are set out in Commencement Orders.
Each Scottish public authority is required to adopt and maintain a publication scheme setting out how it intends to publish the different classes of infomation it holds, and whether there is to be a charge for the information. A timetable for submission of schemes to the Scottish Information Commissioners was announced in Chapter 2 of the Report to the Scottish Parliament on progress on Implementation of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
