Director of Cabinet Operations: Angiolina Foster

The Directorate covers the work of the Cabinet and Corporate Business Secretariat, Communications and Ministerial Private Offices Divisions of the Cabinet Directorate. It sets out the key deliverables and intended improvements for the business year 2011/2012.

Purpose

To provide direct support to the First Minister and his Ministers; to support the Permanent Secretary and the Strategic Board and to communicate clearly and effectively to staff and the outside world.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide support and a proactive, responsive and continually improving service to all Ministers and to Cabinet
  • Ensure that the organisation understands the priorities of Ministers and Cabinet and receives the knowledge and insight to engage with them effectively. Provide both support and challenge to ensure that Ministers expectations are met
  • Support the Strategic Board, its sub-groups, and other senior corporate groups in a way that maximises the contribution that each of these groups makes to the delivery of the SG Business Strategy, and maximises the organisations' ability to engage intelligently with these groups
  • Communicate clearly and effectively the SG strategic aims, policies and decisions both internally and externally, using the most cost effective and appropriate channels and technologies
  • Support the delivery of policy objectives through targeted communications that will influence change
