Ministerial Rail Travel

Full details of First Class rail journeys by Scottish Ministers April 2007 to March 2009

Detailed breakdown includes: class of travel, origin and destination of journey, travel type, cost and whether the travel undertaken was for commuting purposes. We make reference to Flexi Pass tickets. These are books of 50 tickets that can be purchased by the Scottish Government travel provider for journeys between Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Flexi Pass tickets provide savings to the Government up to £4.32 per first class return journey.

Ministers take their responsibility to travel sustainably very seriously. The data shows that Stewart Stevenson has undertaken a considerable amount of rail travel for commuting purposes. Since becoming a Minister in May 2007, Mr Stevenson seeks to avoid unnecessary car journeys, choosing to use the train, walking or taking the bus whenever possible. These journeys and costs cover a two year period and demonstrate the Minister's commitment to reducing emissions by using more sustainable forms of transport.
